Dancing, music and food at Klars fiesta

Music, dancing and food from around the world will be the theme of an international fiesta at Whitefriars School tomorrow.

A celebration of the variety of nationalities in the region will start at 1pm and will be opened by deputy mayor councillor David Whitby.

Many of the Portuguese, Latvian, Polish, Lithuanian and the Russian-speaking community, who will be producing much of the food.

Klars are particularly grateful to the headmaster of Whitefriars School, Mathew Tuckwood, who offered the group the use of the school premises for the event.

Dancers and musicians from Portugal and Brazil are expected to bring plenty of Latin atmosphere, while Moldovan singer Rozalia will also be performing, along with an acoustic duo.

There will also be a Chinese Calligraphy demonstration, while ESOL students from the College of West Anglia will be sharing facts about their home countries, as well as children’s arts and crafts, face painting and a police display focussing on diversity.
