Staff and parents of children at a village pre-school have been celebrating an outstanding rating from Ofsted inspectors.
The Terrington St John Pre-School marked the verdict with an Easter-themed party ahead of the start of the holidays last Friday.
Group leader Julie Rose said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the result and so proud of what we have achieved.
“The hard work and commitment from both our staff and our committee, together with the ongoing support of families has made the pre-school the success it is today.”
When last inspected in 2011, the pre-school, which operates from a dedicated classroom at the village primary school, was rated as good.
But the latest report, which was compiled following an inspection visit last month, found that children make exceptional progress in their learning and development.
The report said: “The exemplary leadership and management of this pre-school results in the provision of an exceptional setting, within which children truly flourish.”
It went on: “Exceptional teaching offers children individualised, challenging and exhilarating learning experiences. They learn to think critically which superbly promotes their rapid progress.”
And there was also praise for the pre-school’s contribution to children’s wellbeing.
The report said: “Children respond to the exceptionally calm atmosphere and behaviour is superb. The environment encourages children to lead their own play as they have independent access to an exceptional range of resources.”
