Dersingham’s St Nicholas parish church was filled with around 190 parishioners on Sunday for a farewell service for the Rev Julie Boyd.

Rev Boyd is leaving the village to take up a new post as team rector at St Faith’s Church, Gaywood, in July.

The congregation from Dersingham with Anmer, Ingoldisthorpe and Shernborne celebrated the four years she held the position of curate after completing her three years training in the nearby parish of Snettisham.

Rev Boyd, who is originally from Windsor and completed an eastern regional ministry course in the Norwich diocese before beginning her ministry, came to Dersingham when she was ordained in June 2012.

She said: “I had a non-church background. I came to the church late in life.

“I had a wonderful time working here with the Rev Michael Brock. He was a good teacher and, together, we learned a lot.

“It’s been wonderful here and I would like to say thank you to everyone for their love, support and prayers. Sad as it is to be leaving I’m looking forward to my new beginning in Gaywood.”
