A chance meeting at a friend’s house has led to 60 happy years of marriage for a Grimston couple.
Romance blossomed for Don and Joan Hale, both 80, after he had offered to walk her home after the visit.
The couple were later married at St Mary’s Church in Bletchley, near Milton Keynes, on August 27. Mrs Hale said: “It was a lovely day. We were married on the same day as my parents celebrated their silver wedding anniversary.”
Mr Hale started off as a farm bailiff before moving onto work for Westland Helicopters, while Mrs Hale was a supervisor at a clothing company.
The couple, who moved to West Norfolk 15 years ago, have three children.
Mrs Hale says working together is the secret of a long marriage.
She said: “If we had a disagreement, we would walk away and get over it. We never went to bed without being friends. ” Picture: MLNF15MF080219
