West Norfolk Council and parish elections on May 4 – so make sure you are registered and have correct ID
Voters in West Norfolk will go to the polls on Thursday, May 4 to elect their Borough and Parish Councillors.
The Notices of Election for the Borough and Parish Council were published on Tuesday and can be found online at west-norfolk.gov.uk/upcomingelections
There are 35 borough wards and each ward has one, two or three councillors depending on its size. There are a total of 55 elected councillors. Polling Stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.
The electoral services team at the West Norfolk Council is urging everyone to make sure they are registered to vote. Anyone whose name is not included on the register of electors has until Monday, April 17 to apply.
For the first time, West Norfolk residents will need to show photographic ID to vote at polling stations. Residents are being urged to make sure they are ready to vote in May by checking they have an accepted form of ID, which include a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport; a UK or EEA drivers’ licence; and some concessionary travel passes, such as an older person’s bus pass.
Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo.
Anyone who does not have one of the accepted forms of ID is able to apply for free ID online at voter-authority-certificate.service.gov.uk or by completing a paper form by 5pm on April 25.

Anyone not able to vote in person can apply for a postal or proxy vote and the deadline for this is 5pm on Tuesday, April 18. Changes or cancellations to existing postal, postal proxy or proxy votes is 5pm on Tuesday, April 25.
The deadline for receipt of new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy or emergency proxy) is 5pm on Tuesday, April 25.
The deadline for receipt of emergency applications on grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons after the above deadline is 5pm on Thursday, May 4.
