Do you have what it takes to escape at King's Lynn's newest attraction?
You and your team have 60 minutes to solve the murder, find the antidote or discover the treasure – can you do it and escape the room?
That's the concept behind Lynn's latest attraction, Escape Rooms King's Lynn on Norfolk Street, which opened its doors to patrons at the end of March.
Lynn couple Ben and Jo Edwards decided to set up their new business, alongside their day-to-day jobs, after they discovered that they were running out of new things to do in the town.
"Over the last couple of years, with my best friend and Jo's best friend, we looked at things to do as a four, you can go bowling or go to the cinema but that's not the most social thing," Ben said.
"We went and did a couple of escape rooms, but the nearest one at that time was Peterborough, which is an hour and a half's worth of travelling for an hour's entertainment, so we have tried to bring the entertainment to King's Lynn."
The business, which is located above Metric Carpets, offers something different to Lynn's leisure scene.
Teamwork is essential, as clues to secure your escape are all around you, and, unsurprisingly, are not always immediately obvious.
When staff from the Lynn News took on the 'Pandemic' room a couple of weeks ago, it quickly became clear that the three of us would need to work together to find the antidote.
Logic was also a handy tool to be able to work out the various clues, which, when successful, opened up a lock and got us one step closer to "saving the world from a deadly virus".
Thankfully, Ben and Jo gave us enough hints (as we were newbies to escape rooms) to be able to get out before the hour was up. In fact, we did it with only 18 seconds to go!
The whole experience was fantastic. It was well-executed and immersive, and certainly got the adrenaline going.
It's not just for adults either. While mature guests might like to take on the 'Pandemic' or 'Murder on Norfolk Street' rooms, families with children are able to test their abilities with 'Treasure Island'.
"We have had quite a wide range of ages here, we've had a two-year-old in 'Treasure Island' and quite an elderly gentleman in 'Pandemic' and they all love it," Jo said.
"The first day we opened some people came who have done lots of escape rooms, they did the 'Pandemic' room and then went over to Terrington and did one there, and then they came back and did our 'Murder on Norfolk Street' one as well.
"My husband has come up with all the games within the rooms, he's really clever with it. People have said that they have seen things here that they hadn't seen before."
Currently the rooms are open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, but weekday requests are accepted.
Teams of four are recommended for each room, with a maximum of six at 'Pandemic' and five at 'Murder on Norfolk Street'.
The couple are looking at expanding to create rooms big enough to accommodate larger groups.
Escape Rooms King's Lynn costs £20 per person and they also run a loyalty scheme.
