Domino's set to come to Swaffham after planning application to take over TSB Bank on Market Place approved
A popular pizza chain looks set to come to town after planning chiefs gave a new restaurant their blessing.
Breckland District Council's planning committee has approved an application from Domino's to take over the old TSB Bank premises at Market Place, Swaffham.
The plans will see a change of use from bank to hot food takeaway, and will include the installation of extraction and external alterations - including a replacement shop front.
A new Domino's store would be located within the Swaffham Conservation Area and in the setting of an adjacent Grade II listed building.
Swaffham Town Council raised no objections to the plans, but did ask that the extractor fan is deemed adequate to "ensure no adverse issues to the local area and residents".
In a statement made in planning documents, Historic England added: "This application is for alterations to the shop front and signage.
"At this time of change for the property, there may be an opportunity for shop front, signage, or other improvements to the prominent 61 Market Place that would result in real benefit to the overall conservation area and HSHAZ.
"We would encourage you to explore this with the applicant and your authority's specialist conservation advisers."
Some objections were raised, including from some who argued that "Swaffham has enough food outlets" and that "other types of shops would be better".
