Downham Market Rotary support town's academy

Downham Market Rotary have continued their support of the town's academy.

This donation is to assist pupils whose families might find it difficult to finance the hire of an iPad which have become an essential part of the learning process during the pandemic lockdown.

In fact they have become such a part of the learning process their use is being extended and the Academy loans out iPads for a modest monthly hire fee.

Simon Prior, chair of governors at Downham Academy, said: "This is a very generous donation which will directly assist our students.

"This is an ambitious scheme, but the timing is right. We will build on the hard work done during lockdown, which has already introduced some of the principals of the scheme to staff and students who have been working at home.

"I have seen a similar scheme in operation at our sister school in Cambridge and it is very clear what advantage it gives to students."
