Downham Games a team effort, organisers say
With this year’s Downham Games set to take place on Sunday, the event is celebrating its partnership with a local running group.
Lifelong Ryston Runners members Peter and Cath Duhig saw an opportunity for the athletics club to support the Downham Games when the event first came to life in 2012 to celebrate the London Olympics.
Since then, members have carried on their good work and in the last three years Mick Ennis has worked with organiser Frances Rayner to ensure the athletics competition is run in a professional manner.
Mick said: “We love working with the diverse range of ages that come along to the Games, people with past and present athletics experience and those with no experience who are trying the six disciplines for the very first time.”
Downham Games’ athletics competition runs from 11am to 1pm on Sunday, and kicks off with a Jazzercise warm up at 10.45am.
Registration is open from 10am and will continue through till 12.30pm. It costs £1 for children and £2 for adults.
