Downham Grange residents' choir to make first public performance

Downham Grange residents’ choir are performing their first public performance at the care home’s Norfolk Day fair next Friday.

Activities coordinators Gail Suiter and Frankie Chandler have been organising a range of activities for the event to celebrate the county’s heritage.

They say there will even be a visit by Lord Nelson to the home in Clackclose Road.

Visitors to the free event will have the chance of a close up encounter with birds of prey brought along by Norfolk Owls, based in Terrington St Clement.

There will also be an opportunity to watch and join dances of The King’s Morris, the Morris side of King’s Lynn, and browse stalls selling everything from jewellery and candles to soap and bric-a-brac.

Tea and cakes will be available and there will be a barbecue running throughout the event.

Mrs Suiter said: “We hope visitors will enjoy our residents’ choir who will be performing publicly for the first time.

“We will be singing a variety of old time songs, including wartime favourites by Vera Lynn.”

A prize raffle will raise money for the residents’ fund to pay for extra activities and outings.

Any local businesses able to donate a prize are asked to contact the home on 01366 387054.

The residents’ choir’s performance will take place at Downham Grange care home’s Norfolk Day fair on Friday, July 27, from 2.30pm to 5pm.
