Downham Market club's popular fireworks event set to move to new location
A popular fireworks display event near Downham is set to move locations this year.
Downham Market Round Table, which organises the annual event, has previously held it at Ryston Field in Denver, but the club has announced that this year’s event will take place at Stradsett Hall on Saturday, November 2.
A spokesman for the Round Table said: “We would like to thank the Ryston Estate for all their great support in the past at Denver.
“We are delighted to now be holding the event at Stradsett Park and are confident that this location will provide a fantastic back-drop and that the event will go from strength to strength there.”
The spokesman said Stradsett Hall, which hosts other annual events such as the Vintage Rally and Country Fair, offers easy vehicle access, convenient parking and a large dedicated showground space.
It is hoped a shuttle bus service will be put on as well, the club has said.
Last year’s event at Denver hosted about 3,000 people, but, according to the Round Table’s poster for this year – this year’s display will be “bigger, better and louder”.
Along with two fireworks shows and a bonfire, the event will also offer the traditional Guy competition, and an array of fairground rides, games and food stands.
Profits from the display will go to local charitable causes and amenities.
Downham Market Round Table has donated more than £15,000 to such causes in recent years, thanks to the profits raised by the fireworks event.
