Downham Market Rotary Club holding quiz night after nearly two years

Downham Rotary club is holding its first Fund Raising Event for well over 20 months.

A Quiz Night at the Clackclose and Conservative Club Room in Bridge Street, Downham, on October 22.

The club have issued an invitation to all quizzers to come along for an enjoyable evening.

The club once held regular events for charity such as their popular fireworks evening in 2019.

Like most charities during ockdown, Downham Rotary have been unable to arrange any fund raising activities during the pandemic and were hit hard by the cancellation of the popular Abba evening at the Town Hall within days of lockdown.

Kay Lincoln, Downham Rotary’s President, said:"Fund raising activities are vital as it allows us to support and donate to local good, worthwhile causes, which we have continued to do from our rather depleted charity fund."

Causes that have benefited by financial support Downham Rotary have given over the past twelve months have included: Downham Market Food Bank, Downham Academy (money towards student laptops), Downham Girl Guides, Kids Out Christmas Toys, Downham Swan Centre, Norfolk Blood Bikes, Downham Churches Together (money toward a Christmas meal for local people in need), Riding for the Disabled (Magpie Centre), and Rotary Dictionaries for local Primary School children.

Quiz entry is £5 per person and teams of up to 4 people are permitted. Doors and bar will be open at 7.30pm for a prompt 8pm start.
