Honda cadet driver Oliver Clarke from near Downham is celebrating after a tough weekend of racing in Llandow, Wales in the second round of the British Championships.
The Llandow track is a tricky one for defending your position and the cadet class is the most contested in the championship, but a determined Clarke finished the final in first place and took himself to the front in the table, leading by 15 points.
The 12-year-old said: “I knew this round would be a really tough one due to the track design and the determination of all the drivers to get to the front and stay there.
“I got into the front pack on several occasions but timing was so tight between the leading group and positions changed regularly.
“I was delighted to come to the last bend and see an opportunity to get the lead just before the chequered flag. It was a close finish and will be an exciting one to watch back when it is aired on Motors TV.”
The finals of the British Championship, Super One series Llandow round will air on Monday, June 15. The next round is in July when the championships goes to Scotland.
He hopes to continue his excellent form there and throughout the seven rounds. He is in the BRK Factory team and attends Iceni Academy in Methwold.
