Downham residents have been given tips on how to lower their fuel bills.

Members of the town’s Stroke Association Support Group were given advice on the potential discounts and grants available to them by Freebridge Community Housing as part of Fuel Poverty Awareness Day.

Freebridge energy advisor, Chloe Schroeter, was invited to the meeting to give the guidance as many people were unaware of the discounts and benefits on offer from the Government and energy firms.

Questions were wide ranging and subjects covered included information on night storage heaters and light bulbs, through to understanding energy bills and solar panels.

Director of property Colin Davison said: “We know that people can find the best way to use energy in their homes challenging, which is the reason for us providing a dedicated energy advisor”
