Downham Market to host first music festival this year
An inaugural music festival will be held in Downham this year, bringing a weekend of live entertainment to the town.
Downham Market Live will take place across various venues on Friday, September 27, Saturday, 28 and Sunday, 29.
Town councillor Emily Lightfoot said: “The idea of a music festival is to put Downham Market on the map locally as a great music location by celebrating the diversity and quality of our musicians, venues and organisations.
“We hope to involve the wider Downham Market and surrounding area community under the banner ‘Your Town, Your Event’.
“Two very well-attended public meetings have led us to this point, and the Town Council is excited for the first ever music festival in the town.”
On the Friday night, live music will be played in venues throughout Downham.
The Saturday will be a busier day, with craft and food stalls, activities and a bar on the Town Square, along with an interactive Buskers Trail, with prizes awarded for the most information gathered.
An acoustic stage will see a number of artists perform from 11am.
The evening will be rounded off with live music in the town hall from 7pm, with the line up of The Georgia Shackleton Trio, Five Fathoms Deep and Gentlemen of Few.
Tickets for the evening event will be £12, and will be on sale soon.
