An application to construct a new workshop building on a business estate in Downham is recommended for approval by West Norfolk Council.
The plans would see SJC Trailers open a new building on a vacant plot of land on the St John’s Business Estate, which is on the outskirts of the town.
The company, which is currently based in Wisbech, trades and refurbishes trailers for lorries and sells them on to hauliers and businesses which require these types of vehicles.
Reports to the council suggest that its current building in Wisbech has become too small for the main requirements of the company.
Planning officers have recommended approval on the basis that the proposed building is “typical of those already developed on this industrial estate and it is unlikely to create any visual or other adverse impacts on the locality”.
The council’s planning committee is due to make its decisionat a meeting on Monday.
