Shez Pro Hair in Downham Market celebrates its first anniversary with free treatments
Business has been so good in its first year at a Downham hairdressing salon that on its anniversary it offered free treatments as a way of saying thank you.
Sherilyn Bone, who launched her salon Shez Hair Pro at 25 Bridge Street on March 2, 2019, invited her customers to nominate people who they felt deserved some pampering.
The idea was that they might be individuals who had little time to treat themselves as they were always looking after others. On the day itself, March 7, two massages and eight haircuts were provided free of charge.
Said Sherilyn: "I asked people to make their nominations via Facebook. We had a marvellous response. The treatments made a real difference to how people were feeling that day. They were refreshed, smiling and generally happier.
"Sometimes I think people may feel a bit intimidated by visiting the hairdressers' but we are different because all my staff are extremely down to earth and make customers feel comfortable."
She said the salon's first year had far exceeded her expectations, growing in terms of staff and treatments available. In addition to Sherilyn, there are three other hairstylists, two of whom are employed and one is self-employed. There is also a nail technician and a beautician.
"I did not expect to take on two members of staff in the first year, but demand made it possible. We are now open six days a week, only being closed on Sundays."
The salon also supports two good causes, one being The Swan Centre in Downham, an outreach point for young people, and the other the Little Princess Trust, by providing hair to use in wigs for children and young people experiencing hair loss.
