A vandalised road sign has been cleaned by a community spirted volunteer in Downham last month.
Brian Ornstein spotted that a yob had spray painted “Allah Akbar” on one of the road signs along the A10 at Downham as he returned home from church on the morning of Sunday, February 7.
Mr Ornstein then returned to his Downham home to pick up turpentine and cloths to begin cleaning the mess off the sign.
Within 10 minutes the spray paint had been removed from the road sign.
Mr Ornstein said: “I felt it was the right thing for me to remove it.
“It only took a few minutes to remove the paint using the turpentine.
“This was a major road and they could have picked anywhere to do that.”
