King’s Lynn drink driver caught behind the wheel in Wisbech jailed
A repeat drink driver who told police he was on his way to buy more alcohol has been jailed.
Fedorenko Jevgenijus, 50, was pulled over in Wilberforce Road, Wisbech – a one-way street – when he got caught heading the wrong way by police officers on August 16.
Details of Jevgenijus and his Audi Q7 were run through the Police National Computer (PNC) which revealed he was disqualified from driving for more than two years in December 2022.
He was arrested and breathalysed which showed he was almost three times the legal drink-drive limit, and a search of the car uncovered two open cans of alcohol and a small amount of cannabis.
Jevgenijus, of St Michael’s Road, Lynn, was charged with drink-driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and being in possession of cannabis.
He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 20 where he was jailed for 22 weeks and banned from driving for four years and three months after admitting all offences.
Sergeant Pete Moulton said: “While being booked into custody, Jevgenijus admitted he had been drinking and was then driving to buy more alcohol, showing his complete disregard for the law and the safety of other road users.
“He has multiple convictions for drink-driving and has clearly not learnt his lesson, resulting in him being handed a prison sentence.
“Drink-driving can have devastating consequences – if you know someone who drives while under the influence of alcohol, please report it to us.”
The force operates a dedicated, confidential hotline – 0800 0320845 – which is available 24/7 and provides the public with the chance to provide information about anyone they think may be driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
