Stow Bridge man caught drug-driving in Barroway Drove was travelling ‘erratically and quickly’

A 44-year-old drug driver was stopped by police after being seen travelling “erratically and quickly” in his work van.

Kris Baldock, of Highbridge Road in Stow Bridge, appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday where he admitted driving above the specified drug limit and having a Class B drug in his possession.

Prosecutor Sarah Fiddy said that just before midnight on November 8 last year, Baldock was stopped on Lady Drove on Barroway Drove after he was seen driving “erratically and quickly”.

Baldock admitted having cannabis on him and smoking it before getting behind the wheel of his work van.

In mitigation, George Sorrell said that Baldock was “deeply ashamed” that he committed this offence.

He told the court that Baldock was struggling after his wife passed away.

“It has been very difficult for him, this is the reason why he resorted to cannabis. He thought it would give him comfort but it didn’t. He is deeply ashamed,” said Mr Sorrell.

Baldock was disqualified from driving for 17 months and fined £461.

He will also pay a victim surcharge of £184 and court costs of £81.
