Drug paraphernalia found near Downham Market skate park, says council
Drug paraphernalia was found near a town skate park this morning, a council has reported.
The equipment, which included a syringe, was found close to the park at Jubilee Community Centre land in Downham. CCTV footage is currently being reviewed and the police have been informed.
Downham Town Council has said that while its team regularly visits the location, it cannot do this all of the time.
“We are aware that the area is used by families and clubs so please check the area before use,” a statement from the authority said.
“We hope that this is a one-off occurrence but we ask that you remain vigilant to protect yourself.”
In the same statement, the council also reported that there was significant graffiti which vandalised the skate park over the past week. This has now been removed.
“This has also been reported to the police as they continue to support the town against anti-social behaviour,” the council said.
The statement added: “It is noted that there is also evidence of the site being used by dog walkers.
“As an example, there was a car on site at 9.39pm last night where a dog was let out of the boot and individuals climbed the railings whilst the dog ran around the skate park.
“Please could we take this opportunity to remind everyone that this site does not allow dogs unless they are registered guide dogs on duty. This is to protect the users of the site.”
