Fakenham man Chris Davey in King’s Lynn court to be sentenced for assaulting police officer and shouting abuse at his father

A drunk 55-year-old who had to be escorted home proceeded to call his father a “f*****g old a******e” and kick a police officer twice.

Chris Davey appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he was sentenced for two offences.

Davey, of Fakenham, admitted in a previous hearing assaulting his dad as well as an emergency worker.

Prosecutor Collette Harper told the court that on June 20 last year, police were called to Wells-Next-The-Sea to reports of a drunk man shouting and screaming. He was lying on the ground in somebody’s front garden.

A worker at a nearby pub offered to take Davey home, and police followed the worker back to Davey’s house.

Davey’s father came out of the address to help get his drunk son inside.

Davey started acting aggressively and called his father, police and the woman from the pub “c**ts”.

He then looked at one of the police officers and kicked him twice in the leg. He then proceeded to swear at and verbally abuse his father.

Davey was then arrested and taken to Lynn’s Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

In mitigation, Rachel Buck said that Davey had got out of a “toxic relationship” at the time and was drinking to cope with that.

Ms Buck said Davey has since moved out of his parents’ house in Wells to his own place in Fakenham.

“He now feels like he has a new lease of life,” said Ms Buck.

She added that Davey and his father now have a “positive relationship” again since the offence last year.

Davey was handed a 12-month community order for the offence, which included completing 150 hours of unpaid work.

He will also pay £100 in compensation to the police officer he assaulted as well as a victim surcharge of £114 and court costs of £85.
