Duke and Duchess of Cambridge join Queen at first Sandringham church service of new year
The Queen was accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the first church service of the new year at Sandringham yesterday morning.
The 93-year-old monarch was driven to the service at the St Mary Magdalene Church, while the Duke and Duchess walked.
Also in attendance at the service were David Cholmondeley, the Marquess of Cholmondeley, and his wife Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley – who live nearby at Houghton Hall.
Crowds hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal party were searched by police, before being allowed to head towards the church.
The service came in the same week in which it was announced that a short film narrated by Prince William, the president of the FA, will be played at FA Cup matches to encourage football fans to look after their mental health.
The one-minute video will be shown at all third-round ties, meaning they will kick off a minute later than usual, as part of the FA's partnership with Heads Together – a mental health initiative spearheaded by The Royal Foundation of the Prince William and Kate Middleton, and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
