East Winch resident Stephen Fry has confirmed that he is to marry his partner.
The comedian and actor went to Dereham register office just before Christmas to post the banns for his same-sex wedding to Elliott Spencer, 27. It is believed the wedding will be Dereham.
Writing on Twitter after The Sun newspaper revealed the marriage plans, Mr Fry, 57, said: “Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I’m very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!”
Mr Fry, who was born near Reepham in Norfolk, is perhaps been known for presenting BBC TV panel show QI, but has also appeared in a variety of acting roles, including Jeeves and Wooster and the Blackadder series. He has also directed and is an active campaigner on a variety of social issues, particularly for those suffering from mental health problems after revealing he is bi-polar. He also has some 8 million followers on Twitter.
