New St Michael’s Academy headteacher Emma Scarisbrick is relishing the challenges ahead of her after taking over at the start of the school term.
Mrs Scarisbrick returned to the UK with her partner Lee in the summer after spending 15 years out in Germany, where she taught Service Children Education.
Mrs Scarisbrick said: “With Germany withdrawing all of its Army stations by 2018, coming back to the UK to teach was a good option.
“When I first visited the school I really liked the atmosphere and ethos at St Michael’s.
“The staff and children have made me feel really welcome.
“I am really excited about the challenge and hopefully I can have a positive impact and continue to move the school forward.
“We have some very good systems in place here and there is lots of support for parents of the children too.”
