More than 200 youngsters and parents filled Reffley Woods yesterday for a magical Elf and Fairy Picnic that captured the imaginations of all involved.
The event was a huge success for organiser Amy Ranger, who only started holding the Out and About events last summer after struggling to find free outdoor activities to entertain her own children.
She said: “Last year I held a teddy bears’ picnic which was brilliant, so this year I though I’d keep with the picnic theme and it went really well. I was really pleased to have so much positive feedback.
“It’s free and the kids love it, we’re just a group of friends and always welcome new people to join us. So many tell me they never even knew Reffley Woods was there, so it’s great to show them somewhere they can take the kids anytime.”
The event was aimed at under fives, but with the school holidays in full swing they were joined by brothers, sisters, grandparents and parents.
Families spent the day building fairy gardens, wand making, potion making, face paints, den building and enjoying lots of arts and crafts.
The events are held on the first Tuesday of each month, for more information about upcoming events, search Under 5’s Out And About on Facebook.
