Find something different in Dersingham emporium
When Jeremy and Claire Bunton opened their business, Em's Emporium, in Dersingham, at the beginning of December, nothing could have prepared them for the lockdow about to be sprung on them.
Named after their daughter Emily, their shop is now open and ready for customers, with stock that is interesting and slightly different from the norm.
Mr Bunton said: "The lockdown hit and forced us to close until mid-April, we were able to operate click and collect and online business continued. We are now open to the public again."
After having long careers the couple decided to wait for the right premises to come along and start their emporium.
Now in Jubilee Court in premises which had been closed for about a year the shop sells a vast range of quality new and nearly new clothes, toys, books, gifts and homeware.
Mr Bunton said: "We liked the idea of having a shop preferably in the village and it is something we'd always thought of doing.
"We just wanted to offer different things perhaps not in main stream or high street shops.
"Something a bit more on the doorstep for customers to pick up something a little different."
The business is not a charity shop, however there is a charitable angle if people want to bring in items which can be sold on their behalf.
They can then either have the value of the goods or the amount can be paid in to a charity of their choice online, on their behalf.
Mr Bunton said: "Some of the comments and feedback have been that the village needed a shop like this.
"We couldn't see anything similar so by filling the gap gave us an opportunity.
"It's been nice to hear other people's opinions support out initial thoughts.
"We are feeling a little more established and customer confidence is starting to come back."
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am-4.30pm and Saturday 9.30-2pm.
