Emergency crews battle garage blaze in the Gelham Manor area of Dersingham

Part of a West Norfolk village has been sealed off following a fire this afternoon.

A neighbouring property is understood to have been evacuated because of safety concerns relating to the incident in the Gelham Manor area of Dersingham.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service personnel were called to an incident in Gelham Manor at around 4.30pm today.

Crews from Lynn's north and south stations tackled the blaze, which the service said started in a garage and involved an acetylene gas cylinder. The incident was reported to have been resolved shortly before 7pm.

One onlooker reported seeing intense flames and said a neighbouring property had been evacuated.

Another said asbestos had been discovered in a garden and residents had been advised to keep their doors and windows closed.
