Members of a new club which will be launching later this year are putting out an appeal for canoes and kayaks.
West Norfolk (Hilgay) Canoe Club is hoping to set up regular meetings with coaching sessions along the River Wissey.
The club has canoe coaches Andrew Church and Andrew Ball on board along with a 10-strong committee.
But members are now putting out an appeal for canoes, kayaks, paddles and also a storage container. More coaches are also needed.
Treasurer Ali Dent said: “We have one or two canoes already but really do need more.
“If you have an unwanted canoe which floats but requires a bit of work we would be interested.”
The nearest canoe club is in Fakenham and so it is hoped this organisation will attract a lot of interest from enthusiasts in the area.
Committee members are also approaching a number of groups for funding, including Active Norfolk.
Coach Mr Ball said: The Wissey is one of the safest rivers. It is not that deep and is perfect for teaching.”
An open day is being planned for September when the public will be invited to have a go. A barbecue is also planned.
