Everything you need to know about the new 24-hour pit-stop opening soon on the A47
The Co-op is set to serve-up a new petrol filling station and food store in Necton, forming part of a multi-million redevelopment of a disused site in the village.
Co-op’s new store is set to launch on Friday, June 21, and has created 25 jobs.
It also brings a funding boost though the Co-op’s Membership scheme – members receive a 5 per cent reward when they purchase own brand products and services, with the Co-op giving a further one per cent to local causes.
The 24-hour petrol station sells unleaded, diesel and super unleaded and diesel fuel, and includes a jet wash, air and water.
Customer car parking and toilets are also available, with the food store – which is approximately 2,500sq ft – serving Costa coffee and having an in-store bakery alongside its focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas, hot food, sandwiches, award-winning wines and essentials.
The store itself runs on 100 per cent renewable electricity and, offers compostable carrier bags instead of single-use plastic bags for customers who forget their bags-for-life – compostable carrier bags have a secondary use as a food waste caddy liner in the home, and can then be collected along with the household food waste recycling and, for instance, be turned into peat free compost.
The Co-op also offers a 10 per cent discount off groceries to students holding the NUS extra (TOTUM) card to support them during their studies.
On the same site there is a separate drive through Costa, and an electric car charging station
Sam Winter, Co-op area manager, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Necton - the store will have a great look and range in order to enable the Co-op to serve the needs of the local community.
"We have been having a great response, and the development brings a disused site back to life for the benefit of both the community and visitors to the region.
"It is our aim to establish the store at the heart of local life and contribute to the community – and it’s a great way to mark the 175th anniversary year of the Co-op!
"It’s all about getting closer to our members and customers, providing what they want, need and care about, conveniently.
“We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op, and that the Co-op gives back to its Members and the community - our Members help us to make a difference locally, raising money for local causes simply by swiping their Membership card when they shop with us."
