Bespoke Construction gets approval to demolish Hillington’s abandoned Valley Filling Station and create ‘stylish’ offices
An abandoned petrol station is set to be demolished to make way for offices after plans were given the go-ahead.
Supporters for the development of the former Valley Filling Station at Hillington say they are “thrilled” about Bespoke Construction’s proposals, which are believed to “improve the appearance of the area”.
The derelict building on the A148 has been labelled an “eyesore” by residents who think it poses health and safety risks and attracts anti-social behaviour.
However, they can now breathe a sigh of relief as West Norfolk Council has green-lit plans for a two-storey contemporary-style office to be erected in its place, with parking as well as bike and bin stores.
The plans, which were submitted in November last year, received support from the parish council, who were not happy with the current state of the petrol station and agreed that the new office building is “modern and stylish”.
Multiple public statements also supported the plans, highlighting that it is much more acceptable than housing and will benefit the economy as well as the community.
“This looks to be a fabulous addition to our neighbourhood, removing the old garage, which is an awful eyesore, and replacing it with a modern building that will also bring local employment to a derelict site,” one said.
“As someone who loves living in this area we really see this as a positive and look forward to seeing the site develop into something we can all be proud to live near.”
