A Downham youngster’s dreams came true at the weekend when he met racing drivers at the British Grand Prix.
Lucas Harper, six, was Bernie Ecclestone’s VIP guest for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in which he watched practice sessions and enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the F1 Paddock at Silverstone.
Wimbotsham and Stow Community Primary School pupil Lucas has been treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital since April for a large tumour in his chest cavity.
He and his family were among a small group of Great Ormond Street patients invited on the day.
Lucas was able to meet driver Romain Grosjean from team Lotus during the session.
His mum Amy said Lucas was delighted with the day.
She said: “Today is a dream come true, it is the best day ever for Lucas as he is such a huge F1 fan and he is a F1 walking encyclopedia!”
