Hunstanton lifeboat launched to rescue family of four at Holme

A lifeboat was launched at the weekend to assist a family who found themselves cut off by the tide.

Volunteers at Hunstanton RNLI were paged at 5pm on Sunday following reports of people stranded off Holme-next-Sea.

The station’s shore team quickly prepared inshore lifeboat Spirit of West Norfolk, ready for its four-strong crew to launch.

The crew made its way east from the lifeboat station towards Gore Point, off Holme, where a fast flowing tidal gully can rapidly flood, leaving people who venture out beyond it trapped.

Two adults and two children were quickly located with assistance from HM Coastguard and picked up by the lifeboat.

The group were all uninjured, and were brought safely back to shore.

The lifeboat was then washed down, refuelled and made ready for its next service.
