Family of Fakenham Gas Museum volunteer Alistair Hunter pay tribute to him after crash near Guist




The family of a Fakenham museum volunteer has paid tribute to him as a “loved and respected member of his community”.

Alistair Hunter, 77, a volunteer at Fakenham Gas Museum, died after a collision near Guist - a village between Fakenham and Bawdeswell - on September 21, 2023.

Alistair had been driving from Fakenham to his home in Foxley, near Bawdeswell, when his vehicle was involved in a collision just north of Guist.

After a week in Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, he died due to his injuries.

Following an inquest held at Norfolk Coroner’s Court today, his loved ones have said he is “greatly missed” in a tribute released via Norfolk Police.

"Alistair, who originated in Edinburgh, Scotland, was a keen bowls player,” his family said.

“He played nationally for Scotland and latterly for Bintree Bowls club.

“He was a volunteer at Fakenham Gas Museum and was a loved and respected member of his community.

"Alistair is greatly missed by his partner Fiona, his son Mark, his daughter Holly and his granddaughter Caitlin."
