Swaffham's Russian restaurant set to serve popular dishes on Christmas Day
Popular Russian dishes such as Stroganoff, pancakes and pork in bread crumbs will be served at a market town restaurant on Christmas Day.
The Rasputin Russian Restaurant in Swaffham's Plowright Place is almost fully booked for Friday, opening up at 6.30pm with last orders before 10pm.
The family-run business usually has 25 people in for Christmas Day, but of course, this year will be different with only one household per table in line with coronavirus restrictions.
Co-owner Irina Martinen said: "In previous years we have a lot of parties but this year there have been very, very few. We do not have a lot of staff but we will survive. We have had help from the government.
"Last year we had 25 people which was a full house. We never have any more than 10 people on a normal day. We offer quality over quantity."
The restaurant is also open on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, but Mrs Martinen said there are not many bookings for these days at the moment.
The restaurant uses local suppliers to adapt for English tastes with vegetables such as broccoli being served, which Mrs Martinen said is not typically consumed in Russia.
Popular dishes include duck Stroganoff, Russian pancakes known as Blini, beef goulash and lamb.
