Castle Acre George and Dragon pub residency for Fanny Adams Catering creates fantastic food hub
A chef who set up a mobile pizza business during the pandemic has gone from strength to strength and now has a residency at the George and Dragon pub, Castle Acre.
Adam Jon Clayton, 40, formed the business Fanny Adams Catering with his partner Annie Vanstone, 34.
The idea for the name came from a combination of Adam and Annie’s nickname her friends call her, Fanny Annie.
The couple live in East Rudham with their two children.
Mr Clayton said: “I formed a mobile pizza business during lockdown restrictions when I realised I would have to make some money.
“I served pizza from the back of a pick-up truck during lockdown and after some success I bought a mobile kitchen.
“Since then Fanny Adams has catered at festivals, pop-ups and weddings.
“We built it together and it has gone from zero to hero.”
The residency at the George and Dragon came at the right place and time for the chef.
Mr Clayton said: “An opportunity arose and I jumped at it.
“We have created a fantastic hub with an outside kitchen and fire and we serve pizza as well as the pub menu.“
Mr Clayton worked as a chef in London before relocating to Norfolk and setting up on his own.
He said: “I built a team here with a head chef who jumped on board and we are developing our summer menu.
“I have been a chef my whole life and I create a fusion of colorful food with a Fanny Adams twist.”
The business uses local produce.
He said: “We are in the middle of nowhere in Norfolk but curried goat with rice and peas really sells.”
The pub runs a quiz and food night with the next one on Friday, June 23.
