A feast of fun will be on offer in Downham when the popular festival gets underway this weekend.
Organisers of Downham Festival hope this year’s event will be one of the best yet with the annual carnival and fun day on bank holiday Monday being one of the centrepieces of the week.

Sunday, May 24: French style coffee morning, Town Hall, 10am to 2pm; Tours of the Old Fire Station, 10am-4pm; flag raising, Town Square, 11.45am; dog show, Howdale, noon-4pm.
Monday, May 25: Carnival, from 12.15pm.
Tuesday, May 26: St Edmund’s Church Tower, 10am-3pm; children’s disco, town hall, 4pm to 9pm.
Wednesday, May 27: Festival cake cutting, town hall, 10am-noon; Duplicate Bridge, town hall, 1.15pm; Old Tyme Music Hall concert, town hall, 7.30pm.
Thursday, May 28: Children’s cinema, town hall, 2.30pm; Musical evening by Downham Red Hat Society, town hall, 6pm.
Friday, May 29: Coffee morning, town hall, 10am; baby show and children’s fancy dress, town hall, 2-4pm; Quiz, town hall, 7.30pm.
Saturday, May 30: craft fair, town hall, 9.30am-3.30pm; lowering of flag, town square, 4pm.
