King's Lynn Fiction Festival reveals list of guest writers for 2023 event
The line-up of writers featuring at Lynn Fiction Festival in March will bringing back some familiar faces from the literary world and introduce some new ones.
The two-day event will take place in the Town Hall over the weekend of March 10-12.
As well as mingling with writers between readings, audiences are also invited to join them for lunch in nearby restaurants on both the Saturday and Sunday.
A strong headliner is Michelle Cahill with her stunning debut novel “Daisy and Woolf”, raising questions around race, class, feminism, and post colonialism, while Jane Feaver’s fourth novel, blending fiction and memoir, is a raw and graphic description of identity, sex, and obsession. Sally Emerson, writer of poetry and prose, who had her six novels republished in 2017 in the Rediscovered Classics Series, will be reading from her first collection of short stories.
Guinevere Glasfurd uses fiction as a means to interrogate the past with feminism and censorship as themes from her latest book; and Stephen May will present his fifth novel ”Sell us the Rope”.
Carol Birch is well known for “Jamrach’s Menagerie” which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, and “Turn Again Home” which was longlisted for the same prize.
Festival regulars will recognise two Norfolk based writers from Norwich and frequent visitors to Lynn - Rachel Hore and also D J Taylor whose collection of stories “Stewkey Blues” (aka Stiffkey) is firmly grounded in East Anglia and echoes this county’s unique geographical and social range.
During the course of the weekend, a well-stocked bookstall manned by knowledgeable staff and featuring the writers will be open in the Stone Hall.
There will also be refreshments available throughout the day, and a bar at the evening events.
Tickets are £10 for each session and a weekend ticket can be purchased for £40.
