Holkham Park in Norfolk among the safest in the UK for social distancing




A popular park has been named as one of the top 10 best parks across the UK for social distancing.

As lockdown restrictions in England were relaxed and temperatures climbed people headed for beaches and parks, there were many concerns about social distancing.

But, according to a Safecation Report from money.co.uk, Holkham Park is fifth best in the country for feeling safe.

Holkham Park scored high for social distancing. The park has 12,02KmĀ² of space for 3,454,836 visitors to explore when maintaining a one metre distance.

Across the UK, visits to parks and beaches rose between 25 and 50 per cent during mid-June, with the biggest rise in visits in places like Southend, Brighton, and Wokingham, according to a Google Covid-19 Mobility Report.

The safecation criteria included: space (km2), contactless payment availability, free activities, dog friendliness, number of beaches within a 50km radius, number of caravan parks/camping sites within a 50km radius, crime rate for April 2020, visitors per year to the county, park entry fee and car parking charges.
