RHS Chelsea Flower Show success for Crane Garden Buildings of Narford for sixth year in a row

Family-run company Crane Garden Buildings, which has its headquarters at Narford, is celebrating its sixth successive win at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

This week it has been awarded the 5 Star Trade Stand Award for the sixth year in a row, enjoying year upon year success since 2013.

The company received the award for its display which included two garden buildings nestled into a romantic garden reminiscent of a woodland walk.

The flora and intricate paving surrounding the two buildings were carefully selected and positioned by in-house garden designer, Peter Mortin, who describes this year's theme for the garden as a natural woodland.

He explained that the stand features a mixture of evergreen and deciduous plants as the ideal base, combined with herbaceous and alpine flowering plants to add interest and colour. All plants for the display are sourced from nurseries in Suffolk and Norfolk.

Mr Mortin said: "We have sourced all plants from the same nurseries for a number of years and were confident that the high-quality of the foliage reflects the quality of our buildings."

Specific plants from this years’ stunning display have been deliberately selected to evoke the country cottage garden, with soft pinks and purples in the form of lavender, foxgloves, drumstick primulas, irises, and purple alliums bedded amongst lush greenery.

This greenery is a mix of acer shrubs, choisya japonica, cordyline and various different hosta plants for further texture and layering.

The walls for the stand is crafted from Canadian cedar, which Crane Garden Buildings source from the British Columbia region of Canada, and normally use as roofing material for their buildings.

Mr Mortin hopes to inspire others to create a space of leisure and enjoyment in their own gardens. He said: "We really wanted this year's stand to show our wonderful customers what our buildings can look like in their own gardens."

The Garden Room on display at this years’ show is set to take up residence at Crane’s show site in Cranleigh, Surrey after the show.

Brothers and company partners, James and Nick Crane insisted that the triumph is due to the hard work of all Crane staff who continue to make such successes possible: “This continued success is undoubtedly the result of the time and effort put in by our staff, and it is them that we have to thank for this.”

Crane Garden Buildings have been hand-making high quality timber buildings for over 40 years.
