Fire at Mabel Bakery in Downham Market leaves business without power - forcing it to temporarily close

Firefighters rushed to a town centre bakery following reports of a blaze last week - which has since temporarily closed the business.

The incident, at Mabel Bakery in Downham’s Market Place, saw the 999 call come in at 6.18am on Friday.

Crews tackled the fire until the stop message was received at 6.59am, and a thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots.

The extent of the damage is unknown, however, on Facebook, the team behind Mabel Bakery says it will be left without power for a week and as a result has had to remain closed.

The business added: “Unfortunately it’s not going to be a quick fix, but we’re staying positive and making a plan.”
