Owners of Mabel Bakery in Downham Market asks for community’s help to find temporary baking location after electrical fire

The owners of a bakery which suffered an electrical fire last week are calling for help to get back up and running in time for Christmas.

Firefighters rushed to Mabel Bakery on Downham’s Market Place after reports it had caught alight at 6.18am on Friday - temporarily closing the business.

Lucy Peacock and Dan Frazer, who only opened the shop in March, described the incident as something “straight from the plot of a Christmas movie” and said they are in need of a “miracle”.

The fire resulted in the building being left without power for six weeks, jeopardising their ability to fulfil festive orders.

Now the pair are calling for help from the community to stay afloat and are in need of a temporary baking location so they can keep up with orders.

“If you have a work space that you think could work, please get in touch”, the bakery posted on Facebook.

Additionally, the business is hosting a raffle where the winner could get a year’s supply of baked goods, with the proceeds going to support the extra costs Mabel will face during this time.

Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased here.
