Firearms officers called to reports of knife threats in Little Fransham before ammunition fell from vehicle at Postwick Interchange

A dramatic incident involving reports of knife threats saw a road closed after police ammunition fell from a vehicle.

Firearms officers were called to reports of a man being threatened with a knife by another male at an address on Main Road, Little Fransham, at 12.33pm on Friday afternoon.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and taken to the Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

However, no further action will be taken as “all lines of enquiry have been exhausted pending any further information”, a police spokesperson said.

Following the incident, officers were forced to close the slip road at the Postwick Interchange - near Norwich - at 3.32pm after equipment was “accidentally left on the roof of a police car”.

“Two magazines containing ammunition fell into the area of the slip road so officers contained the area to ensure the safety of the public,” the spokesperson said.

“The equipment was subsequently safely recovered and the road reopened.”

“The incident is being dealt with by senior managers as part of a review into the incident,” they added.
