Part of former Dersingham community centre on Manor Road destroyed as firefighters spend four hours tackling blaze

Several fire crews were sent to the scene of a blaze at a former community centre in Dersingham last night.

The fire, at the old community centre, opposite the Feathers pub, started at around 9.15pm and continued into the early hours of this morning, with firefighters spending four hours tackling the flames.

Pictures appear to show that the roof of one of the buildings has been gutted by the blaze.

Appliances from Sandringham, Lynn North, Lynn South, Heacham, Hunstanton, Massingham, Fakenham and the aerial ladder platform from Lynn North were all at the scene.

Police also attended to assist the fire service, and they closed off Manor Road in all directions.

The road closure was lifted at 11.58pm once the fire was under control.

The fire was extinguished by 1.20am today, after which crews left the scene.

Police have said the incident is not being treated as arson.

Manor Road was briefly closed this morning so fire crews could return and assess the building, and it was later reopened at 9.35am.
