Downham Market Round Table confirm Stradsett Hall fireworks event will go ahead on Saturday after weather warnings

The organisers of a huge firework display have confirmed that their event at the weekend is still going ahead despite amber weather warnings in place across the country.

The fireworks organised by Downham Market Round Table at Stradsett Hall will still go ahead on Saturday and tickets are still available on the gate and online.

It comes after weather warnings are in place for storm Ciarán is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the area across the weekend.

One of the organisers Ryan Rix said: “We have been working away the last two days to make new tracks and hard areas for people to access it.

“We are still going ahead and have no plans to cancel as the storm should have passed by then.”

Ryan has urged for visitors to drive sensibly into Stradsett Hall as there is standing water in the premises.

This year, the team has selected The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House, at Hillington as the main beneficiary, so it is hoped the event will raise lots of much-needed funds for the cause.

There will be a 17th-century reenactment taking place throughout the evening, telling all of the Guy Fawkes Gunpowder Plot.

That is in addition to fire breathers and LED dancers, stilt walkers and fire-breathing statues.

Gates will open at 4.30pm – when the live stage opens with entertainment from Jak Ropa – and tickets are now available online via the Eventbrite website, or at the gates on the night.

The fire dancers will begin at 7pm, before the fireworks extravaganza starts at 7.30pm, with the live stage closing at 9.30pm.
