Flood alert issued for Welney as roads could close following heavy downpour
A flood alert has been issued in West Norfolk due to heavy rainfall, which could affect the way you travel.
The warning in place in Welney and stretches into other parts of Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
The Environment Agency has advised residents to check before they travel around the area and avoid low lying roads which are near rivers.
Further rainfall has been predicted over the next few days and reports on the Welney Flood Watch Facebook group say that the A1101 Welney Wash Road was closed yesterday afternoon due to flood water.
This morning, the road was open again but water was again beginning to partially cover it.
"We would expect that as yesterday levels will increase on the day and go above the 2.40 trigger and there will be flows across the road to a depth of one to two inches," they said.
The Environment Agency has said that the situation is being closely monitored.
