Warning over tidal flood risk along West Norfolk coast

Members of the public are being urged not to put themselves at risk from expected flooding on parts of West Norfolk's coast.

A flood alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the stretch of coast between Old Hunstanton and Cley.

Levels are expected to peak within the next hour, though officials say the issue is likely to persist for several later high tides too.

A flood alert is in place for spring tides along part of West Norfolk's coast.

An updated alert issued by the agency last night said "minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths" is likely this morning.

It continued: "Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.

"We expect to see water on roads and paths to beaches and on the quays in Brancaster, Burnham Overy, Holkham, Wells and Blakeney.

"The next few tides are also forecast to reach flood alert. Take care on coastal roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger."

Previously issued alerts for coastal areas between Lynn and Hunstanton have been withdrawn.
