Downham Town FC pitch vandalised as drivers dig up grass with tyre tracks
A town football club's facilities were damaged by vandals driving over its pitch.
Downham Town FC was the victim last Friday when track marks tore up sections of the SCL Memorial Field.
Norfolk Police confirmed that the criminal damage took place at around 6.45pm.
It is not the first time the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North side has been targeted this season, with one of its training pitches wrecked back in September.
Dugouts and sponsor boards have also been damaged.
A club spokesman said: "The police are aware and dealing with it, so hopefully appropriate action is taken.
"It isn’t the first time this group have been up there on the pitches and up until now they’ve left the main pitch alone. Last month we spent more than £1,000 to improve it, which now feels completely wasted.
"The club are extremely grateful and would like to thank all those who have been in touch with support on the vandalism.
"We have also been very fortunate that members of the public were able to get clear photographs."
