He succeeds Mark Noble, who has been the site’s operations director for the past five years.

Mr Ramsay, a former Green Party deputy leader and Norwich city councillor, said: “I have followed Pensthorpe’s work for a long time and have always admired how the site combines crucial conservation work with providing a great day out for all the family.

“Pensthorpe has a strong mission around demonstrating wildlife-friendly land management while inspiring people to enjoy and protect nature and the countryside.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team to refine and develop this mission while continuing to offer an excellent visitor experience.”

Site owner Bill Jordan said: “Adrian has a life-long passion for the environment and is particularly interested in engaging people with nature and sustainability issues.

“As an attraction with a conscience we look forward to working with Adrian to inspire our visitors and enhance our offering for people of all ages.”
