Former Downham Market resident to release debut DIY book

A former Downham resident is set to release her debut book next month which she says is a dream come true.

Nikkita Palmer, 25, designs and creates bespoke, sustainable furniture and homeware from her studio in Bedford with her partner Billy Barker, 30, and this experience forms the basis of their book Pallet Style which is published on April 4.

Pallet Style, published by Kyle Books, details 20 creative home projects using recycled wooden pallets –from a coffee table to key hooks, and a home bar to a herb box planter.

Former Downham Market High School student Nikkita, who now lives in Northamptonshire, said: “Writing a book has always been a dream of mine, so when Kyle Books got in touch with us regarding a reclaimed project book I really was overwhelmed.

“We started right away and the whole process was very exciting, if not stressful at times.

“We worked with a fantastic team of people from photographers to editors who have capture our personalities, brand and workshop vibes perfectly.

“I really am so overwhelmed, excited and happy to have had this opportunity and I am really looking forward to the next stage of our brand from here.”

Nikkita and Billy, who have been working together for two years, also hire out props such as gin bars and photobooths through their business.
